Joan, a retired computer analyst, reinvented herself as an artist after retirement in 2007, and she has been taking classes, drawing and painting ever since. She works mainly in watercolor and acrylics. She has taken watercolor workshops with several local and internationally known artists, including, Martha Mans, Tom Owen, Taffy Mulliken, Stephen Quiller and John Salminen.
Joan’s work has been accepted in a number of National and International Watercolor Exhibitions and she has had the opportunity to show and contribute to fund raisers at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center for the past three years. The Colorado Watercolor Society’s selected an image of her work for reproduced on their New Trends promotional flyer and Exhibition Invitation. She has also been published in the Pikes Peak Community College Art and Literature Catalog.
She is a signature member of the Colorado Watercolor Society and the Pikes Peak Watercolor society. Her work is also on display at Boulder Street Gallery and at Poor Richard’s, both on Tejon Street, downtown Colorado Springs.
