Rosita Darlene Wells

The horse is highly regarded in many cultures, representing the essence of stamina, agility, beauty, and strength. Darlene's pottery is made with those values in mind. Each piece is hand thrown on a potters wheel then trimmed until it is smooth. When bone dry, terra sigillata is applied, which is the finest parts of clay. Three coats are applied and polished with a soft cloth, then fired in a kiln to 1800 degrees. The pottery is cooled to 1000 degrees. At that temperature hair, salt or sugar and feathers are applied in a free-style manner, giving each piece its originality. Finally, the pottery is polished with a paste wax, giving it a beautiful shine for a one of a kind piece of art.
